We were in the same Islamic Education class together back in MMU, Malacca. Thara was wearing her favorite brown colored shirt with the tudung (scarf) I just love to see her in when I first set my eyes on her. She set herself far different and matured from the rest of the girls in that tudung. I thought she was one of the cutest girls in the class back then too. Needless to say, she caught my attention. But since I belonged to someone else at that time, naturally, I just couldn’t do anything about it.
A year later, I went to MMU, Cyberjaya to continue with my degree program. And as luck had it, we crossed paths again! We were even in the same Math class this time. She was sitting at the back of the class, with her best friend Syikin, then. They were always seen together, and she was never seen walking with a guy, so I know there was no way she was tied to anyone then. Seeing this as a glimmer of opportunity since I was no longer attached to anyone else then too, I started to make a move on her. I know it was not going to be easy since many of my friends have failed to tackle her and it is known fact that she is very hard to get. Some thought she was a snob. I was determined, however. Because I know that if the rest couldn’t get her, then she must have made for me. Hehe.
And so one night, I decided to message her in Yahoo Messenger. It was our first real chat together and we were already clicking very well. Since that day, we became very close to each other until one day, I bumped into her in the lecture hall. Our eyes met just for a split second but she looked down quickly looking rather shy. Aww, I thought, she’s shy. So I tried approaching her again, in class this time. I asked her a question I pretended not to know, and she helpfully explained to me with such patience and care. At the same time, I tried asking her out a few times, but got turned down. I was beginning to lose hope. Until one day, she asked me if I wanted to go to Disney’s Princess On Ice with her. It was a coincidence! I was actually supposed to go with my sister, but of course I was not that dumb to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity, so I agreed to be her escort on that day.
Needless to say, that night was the best night in my life. Never have I thought would I be on a date with one of the most sought-after girls in campus! I knew I had to step up my game, and so one day, I asked her if she would want to take the friendship into the next level. I was blown away when she accepted the proposal, and that’s when I knew, I was really made for her, right from the start. :)
